Hi there!
My name is Chris Vermeulen and over the last 17 years I've helped more than 50,000 customers to present themselves online with a website.
In a survey among my customers, more than half said they could use some help to make their website GDPR compliant.
One of the more difficult things to solve for your website is to implement a professional cookie notification.
So over the past few months I've worked with a developer to create a cookie notification that is SO easy to implement, that it will only take a minute.
Simply copy - paste a small line of text we provide into your website, publish and you're done! You'll have a nice, professional cookie notification on your website.
It is called EasyCookieBox and if you use it in your site, you reduce the chance of getting a fine to virtually zero and you show your visitors that you respect their privacy.
You can order EasyCookieBox by clicking on the button below.
You do not have to spend 500 to 1000 euro on a developer to get this implemented on your site and you do not have to pay hundreds of euro per year for the software.
The price is only 57 euro ex VAT per year, but if you order today you can take advantage of our special launch price of only 37 euro.
Please mind that this price is only for the first 1000 customers. Then the price goes up to its normal retail value of 57 euro.
If for any reason you are not satisfied, you will get your money back thanks to our 30-day money back guarantee.
We also have a version that is fully customizable. EasyCookieBox Pro.
The standard version is neutral in design, with a graphite background color, white text and a blue button. Exactly as you saw when you first visited this site. On the order form you can enter the link to your privacy-policy page and you can choose which language the text should be displayed in.
If you feel that styling and design are important, you can go with the fully customizable Pro version.
With the Pro version you can match the colors of your EasyCookieBox with the colors of your site, you can customize the texts and also the link to your privacy policy. You can choose from 3 different styles and you can position it on the left or right bottom of the screen. If you wish you can hide the "Powered By EasyCookieBox" link as well.
You can customize it as often as you want with a form on our website, without having to make any changes in your website.
This Pro version normally retails at 97 euro ex VAT per year, but during our launch period you can order it for only 57 euro. That's only 20 euro more than the standard version.
And of course, the 30-day money-back guarantee also applies here.
So order now, without risk, EasyCookieBox for the special launch price of only 37 euro or the Pro version for only 57 euro and within a few minutes you have a nice, professional cookie notification on your site. And you can check this todo off your list.
Which version would you like?
Click on the button of your choice to order.
With the Chrome Browser you can easily check whether your website sets cookies by clicking on the padlock in front of the URL of your website in the address bar of your browser. Or on the ( i ) icon if you do not have SSL.
You can do that for every site, including your own site.
In Safari, FireFox and Edge browsers, it's all more hidden. So if you do not use Chrome yet, this is a good time to download it for free.
You immediately see how many cookies are being used on that page. If you click on cookies in that dropdown, you will see the details.
Tip: Pay particular attention to whether the cookies are only placed from your own domain name or also by other domain names (such as google, facebook, etc.). If cookies are also placed by other domains, they are third party cookies and different rules apply.
IMPORTANT
Do not just check if your homepage is setting cookies, but check all your pages (or at least the most important ones).
Cookies are often placed by specific content elements of a page. That is why the cookie usage varies per page of your site. One may not set a slingle cookie and the other may set 50. We sometimes see pages that set over 200 cookies!
Therefore, check every page of your site or place cookies. Or at least the most common pages.
In addition, here is a free tool that lets you check your site for third party cookies:
You can install it with a few clicks. You don't have to register.
Please note, this tool mainly focuses on so-called tracking or thrid party cookies. Your site can also place all kinds of functional cookies. In principle, EVERY WordPress site places cookies.
The first method (clicking on the padlock in Chrome) is a more accurate to check your site for cookies because then you will see ALL cookies.
Functional cookies do not require permission, but you do need to inform your visitors about this.
That is also done with EasyCookieBox.
Will you come back here after checking? ;-)
After your order you will receive a small line of text from us that you have to paste in the "head" of your site.
The "head" is a part of your website (invisible to your visitors) that is loaded on all pages of your site. It contains information for the search engines, but also scripts that perform certain functions.
Where you can find the "head" of your site (the place to paste the line of text), is different for every CMS or SiteBuilder.
For the most popular systems such as WordPress, Joomla, TopSite, Wix, Weebly and SquareSpace and Jimdo we explain exactly how to find the head of your site and paste the code snippet.
If you have a different system, you can find out how to get to the "head" of your site in the Frequently Asked Questions of that system. Or on Google.
After you past it, you probably have to publish. Then visit your website and you will see that EasyCookieBox works immediately. You may have to refresh the page.
Maybe you will not succeed in 30 seconds, but more than a few minutes it will certainly not take. :-)
Two laws apply to the cookie notification: The GDPR and possibly your country's Cookie Law. Together they demand that a website that places cookies meets the following requirements.
We call this
"The Ten Commandments of the Cookie Notification"
Tip: read this slowly and carefully :-)
When you look at this list you immediately realize that many cookie notifications do not meet all these requirements.
EasyCookieBox meets the first 9 for sure. And we solve the 10th one by not blocking cookies, but allowing them to be switched off afterwards.
EasyCookieBox respects the spirit of the law, that is to allow visitors to visit your site without cookies. But it does not comply 100% with the letter of the law, because these cookies are not blocked, but can be turned off afterwards.
Blocking cookies is in fact very difficult to achieve.
There are cookie notifications that make this possible, but these all require that you search the source code of all the pages of your website for all scripts, beacons, pixels, iframes, embedded videos and social media integrations and require you to manually edit the code so that they fall under the control of the cookie script.
That is not doable for most website owners.
The alternative is to hire a developer to do this for you (if you can find one). But that also increases your costs. Because those guys are not cheap.
That is why we developed EasyCookieBox, which meets nine of the ten requirements of the GDPR and Cookie Act. Actually 9.5, because even though it does not block cookies, we do offer the possibility to switch them off afterwards and to visit the site without cookies.
That makes EasyCookieBox a much better option than most cookie notifications that you see online. And in any case a lot easier to implement.
EasyCookieBox respects the spirit of the law, by allowing visitors to visit your site without cookies. But it does not comply with the letter of the law, because these cookies are not blocked, but can be turned off afterwards.
As a Supervisor, they are of course not allowed to issue an official statement, but in a personal conversation we had with them they explained how they view this.
They understand that most entrepreneurs, freelancers and non-profits who have a website do not have the technical skills to implement a cookie notification that complies 100% with the GDPR and the Cookie Law. They also understand that not everyone has the budget (500-1500 euro) available to have this done.
That is why they are very accommodating and take the circumstances into account when they do an audit of your site.
For a website owner who does set cookies, but does not notify or ask permission, they will not be inclined to be merciful. But a site owner who can prove that they have done everything in their ability to implement a solution the best they know how, will probably get away with a warning and possibly the assignment to implement a 100% compliant solution.
Good to know:
The supervisor will only take action AFTER a complaint has been submitted. Who could file a complaint? A website visitor, an angry (ex) customer or a competitor.
By incorporating EasyCookieBox in your site, you reduce the chance that someone will file a complaint enormously. And if an audit is done, you can at least show that you have done everything within your capabilities.
You could compare EasyCookieBox in this respect with an insurance policy. You cannot always avoid a complaint, but you are a lot stronger in your defense.
A cookie is a small text file that your website puts on the hard disk of your visitor's device when it visits your site.
The most important function of cookies is to distinguish one user from the other. That is why the GDPR calls cookies 'online identifiers' and regards them as personal data.
You also encounter cookies on a lot at websites where you have to log in. A cookie ensures that your visitor remains logged in while using your site.
At sites that sell online, cookies are also useful for remembering what is in the shopping cart.
Being able to differentiate visitors is also important in internet marketing. That way you can, for example, show an ad on Facebook to anyone who recently visited your website.
The line of text that you receive from us by email after your order to paste into your site, is actually a mini-script that calls a number of larger scripts that are on our servers.
These scripts handle everything for you.
For example, the cookie notice is displayed until the visitor has made a choice ( cookies settings or accept cookies). After that choice is made, the notification is no longer shown. That choice is remembered by means of a (functional) cookie :-)
The scripts are also loaded asynchronously for every visitor of your site. This means there is no delay in the loading speed of your website.
If 10,000 websites use EasyCookieBox and they have an average of 100 visitors per day that visit an average of 2 pages, our scripts are loaded 2 million times a day. There is a lot of technology behind to make this possible.
This is the reason that we offer EasyCookieBox in a subscription form.
Scripts, beacons, pixels, iframes, embedded videos and social media integrations set cookies, from (and on behalf of) your website, on the devices of the visitors.
Often site owners have no idea this is happening.
They don't know an embedded Youtube or Vimeo video on their site is setting cookies. Or a facebook like or share button.
A tracking pixel from Facebook or Adwords also sets cookies. As does your Analytics software.
To see exactly which cookies are set by your site, please click on the question above that says "How can I check if my site sets cookies?"
Sure :-)
After your order you will receive a PDF with the text that you have to paste in your site and a few tips on how you can do that.
In that PDF you will also find a link to a Privacy Policy Generator. This allows you to easily create a privacy policy that fits your site.
We get that. Sometimes that can be absolutely necessary.
If you really want your cookie notification to comply 100% with the GDPR and Cookie law, we can wholeheartedly recommend Cookiebot.
Other providers focus on 100% compliance with the GDPR and Cookie Law. This means that these solutions are (very) difficult to implement in your site. In all likelihood, you will have to hire a developer or expert for this, which can cost you a lot.
EasyCookieBox complies with 9 (or actually 9.5) of the ten requirements of a cookie notification and focuses on easy implementation.
What good is the perfect solution, if you can't get it to work or costs more than 1000 euros?
EasyCookieBox is a lot cheaper than the alternatives. If you want to verify this on google, you will soon find out.
You can also find free solutions online, but these are made by techies for techies. Without an expert you will not get them working in your site.
EasyCookieBox can be on your site in a few minutes. And then you can check this annoying item off your list. ;-)
